Lindsay Mens Craig

Lindsay Mens Craig holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Western Ontario but found her true calling when she eagerly jumped into the world of design with both feet to become a member of Sarah's crew. She's now approaching her 10th year with the firm! Through five TV series (including every season of Sarah’s House and Sarah 101), both behind the cameras and in front, Lindsay has embraced her role as Sarah’s right-hand girl while fast-tracking her project management skills and design savvy.

After years of working on projects of every style and size alongside Sarah and Tommy, there isn’t a design dilemma she hasn’t met and conquered with her inimitable determination and ability to handle projects of any scope. Lindsay applies all this skill and knowledge she's accumulated towards managing an ever-growing renovation and design portfolio. Known for being energetic and enthusiastic, Lindsay fuses her playful yet chic approach to colour with a love of vintage furnishings while bringing experience and style to every project.  Lindsay was a cast member of the hit HGTV series Design Inc., and Sarah 101.  Lindsay’s work, and several of her own homes, have appeared in international design magazines such as Canadian House and Home, Style at Home, Renovation Style, and many others. A favourite of design bloggers (including Habitually Chic), Lindsay’s design work has gained wide and well-deserved attention.

When Lindsay isn’t multi tasking several TV projects or creating magazine-worthy interiors for her private clients, she can be found, with husband Michael, daughter Kennedy and their dog Axel, in her laboratory (their cozy Toronto house) mixing up her latest collection of chic fabrics and fabulous finds for all to enjoy in the pages of her next editorial feature!  Stay tuned!

Best Design Bargain you bought for your home:

A $40 pagoda style mirror - I’ve seen similar ones priced at $1500. This one is not as good as the real thing but it’s definitely getting the look for less!

Thing you would buy for your home if money were no object

Oh, so many options but probably custom designed rugs. I really like a room to feel complete and there wouldn’t be anything better than being able to design and have control over the largest canvas the room has to hold!

First Design Memory:

My mom surprised me by redecorating my bedroom. She painted everything from the walls, trim, and furniture light blue, it was amazing!

My style would be described by my colleagues as...

Pretty and classic with a youthful edge.

Two-colour combo:

My personal favourite is Robin’s Egg & Cream – it’s kind of like sand and ocean, where else would you rather be!

Design Period/Movement:

Probably the 1940’s because it was all about elegance, glamour and clean lines. They also started playing around with layering patterns more, which I love!

What’s your favourite room to decorate and why?

I’d have to say a living room because I feel they give you the most to play with. In addition to sofas, cocktail tables and chairs, they can incorporate a writing desk, eating area or a bar and they can become this great multi-purpose room with a lot of dimension and character.

What is your comfort food?

My moms spice cake…just ask Tommy!

What would be your next dream vacation destination?

www.jademountain.com - we got a sneak peak of the resort when we were on our honeymoon and it looks out of this world. It’s Oprah approved too!

What would be your theme song?

Journey…”Just a small town girl…”
