Tara started with Sarah Richardson Design on the other side of the camera, as a production assistant after graduating with an Interior Design diploma from Fanshawe College (2008). Her hard work and dedication earned her a spot within the SRD team in 2009.
With a keen eye for pulling together a polished space with flourish and flare, Tara demonstrates a great understanding of layered texture, pattern and colour. She offers endless support and knowledge as the go-to-girl to make ideas and concepts come to fruition through space planning and AutoCAD. Be it total gut renos, custom kitchens, or intricate tile patterns, clients are left with a distinctly unique space to call their own. With two television seasons, and a growing collection of private client projects under her belt, Tara continues to hone her design talent. In her latest design milestone, Tara collaborated on a space published in Canadian House & Home. In her constant pursuit for inspiration, Tara loves to scour the city for a vintage diamond in the rough, and is forever surfing the countless array of design blogs at her fingertips, whilst dreaming of her next global adventure.

BEST DESIGN BARGAIN YOU BOUGHT FOR YOUR HOME
A beautiful faux bamboo bar cabinet, with fantastic storage – it doubles as a console in my small space!
THING YOU WOULD BUY FOR YOUR HOME IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT
An original Cy Twombly painting.
FAVOURITE DESIGN BOOK? WHY?
Domino’s Decorating Guide – it captures the essence of the magazine I loved so much, and is a great learning tool for the basics
FAVOURITE SPACE YOU'VE DESIGNED
I can’t take full credit, but I worked with Sarah on a church turned home in the country. The kitchen/family room/living room were so feminine and serene. Large arched windows, and a soft colour palette – pure elegance!
STORE OR SHOP I'D LOVE TO GET LOCKED INSIDE WHEN IT CLOSED
FIRST DESIGN MEMORY?
At the age of 6, sitting down at the dining room table with a large pad of paper, lots of pencil crayons, and my best friend and neighbor Andrew, to draw out the plans to our future home. He insisted on a cat room, while I talked him into a Minnie & Mickey Mouse ‘his & hers’ styled bathroom. I am happy to report that 20 years later, he is cat free, and my style has most definitely developed!
Playa Cabana - whether it was the fish tacos or margaritas, it has won over my heart!
NEXT DREAM VACATION DESTINATION?
A cliffside villa on the Amalfi Coast in Italy
IF SRD HAD A BAND, WHAT INSTRUMENT WOULD YOU BE PLAYING?
I notoriously whistle around the office, so naturally I would say the flute!
I Am Woman – Helen Reddy (the Sex & the City karaoke version!)
THE TREND I WILL NEVER REVISIT IS…
Wall paint faux finishes of the 90’s – ie, sponge painting, smooshing, etc. NEVER
