Episode 3:
How to incorporate different countertops, sinks and
faucets in the same space!
Your kitchen countertop is one of the largest surfaces in the kitchen so choosing the right one is important. With so many varieties on the market, it's easy to find the right style, colour and durability. Need a little help in the kitchen? Why not add a bar sink to increase efficiency and functionality - and room for an extra set of hands!
Get the Look
Here are a few key elements we used to make this kitchen better than new… and yes, it's all from Lowe's!

COUNTERS:
If you've opted to embrace a two-colour paint scheme for your kitchen cabinetry, why not mix and match your counters as well. Quartz counters are available in a wide range of colours and patterns that are designed to compliment each other in perfect harmony.

Bar Sink:
Even a small kitchen can offer increased efficiency and additional work areas thanks to the addition of a bar sink. Adding a second sink allows you to have a second prep and clean up station so there can easily be more cooks in the kitchen!
TIP: Even a small 18" round sink can handle a large pot for clean up and offers better multifunctional use than the typical small rectangular bar sink. Since most elements in any kitchen are big and boxy (like appliances, and cabinetry), a round element helps break up the sharp angles.

The Island:
Since your kitchen island is likely the gathering spot in your kitchen, it's an ideal place to use a counter surface that is dynamic and patterned. With options that mimic the beautiful patterns of natural stone, it's easy to make your island the star attraction of the kitchen! At first glance this "Natural Limestone" counter may look simply grey, but it has undertones of green that can be played up in your décor scheme with accents and accessories.

PRACTICAL & PRETTY:
Bright white perimeter counters add a bright highlight to a darker tone on the lower cabinetry and are practical to boot! Since quartz counters are heat-resistant, scratch resistant and stain resistant, they offer a practical yet pretty alternative to the darker and more neutral offerings available in granite. If worry-free counters are what you're after, you'll want to take a closer look at quartz!

Faucets:
When shopping for faucets, look for one that offers you everything you need for easy clean up. A pull down feature is a handy addition for your main faucet while a combination of spray and stream functions allows you to get just the pressure you need. A high arcing design lends decorative beauty and impact when placed on the island as a focal point, and the brushed metal finish.
TIP: Your bar faucet and main sink faucet don't need to be a perfect match, but make sure you select the same metal finish for both pieces so they look like a unified statement.
