arah Richardson started her career in lifestyle television 15 years ago as a behind-the-scenes prop stylist and set decorator. Within a year, Sarah found herself in high demand as an on screen personality and quickly realized that she could carve a niche in the emerging world of design TV by sharing her practical, endearing and inspiring approach to interior design with viewers. Sarah now has three hit shows, and is about to launch a fourth: room service, design inc., Sarah's House and now her most recent adventure, Sarah's Cottage.
In her TV programs Sarah and her team of young, chic designers solve problems and implement innovative, customized solutions for their clients. The cameras follow Sarah all day, every day - pulling back the curtain on the interior design process for those who want to know what really happens. It's the trials, the tribulations, and the triumphs in the "life of design". It's high stakes, high style, happening in real time. Unscripted.
Sarah is not your average TV designer. Her keen understanding of the fundamentals of design compliment razor-sharp instincts in all matters of taste and style. For over a decade, Sarah has led her design firm, Sarah Richardson Design, in new and exciting directions with an ever-increasing roster of both residential and commercial projects. Sarah places great
emphasis on thoughtfully tailoring her work to meet her clients' personal style and taste. She combines creativity and well-honed skill to express her signature style through interiors with timeless appeal.
Sarah's work is featured frequently in design publications in Canada, the US and the United Kingdom. She was the youngest designer to be named one of Canada's foremost "stylemakers" by Canadian House and Home magazine,
and was awarded Canada's Top 40 Under 40TM in 2007. She makes regular cross-Canada appearances to share her design knowledge and ideas, and writes a featured column on design for The Globe and Mail.
When not revamping homes for TV, Sarah is busy with her growing collection of signature product lines including indoor and outdoor furnishings. To keep the demands of a hectic TV life in balance Sarah spends weekends living off the grid at the solar-powered cottage she shares with her husband and daughters.
